My work as a psychotherapist is to offer you an accepting space to bring whatever you are experiencing in your life. I offer a space in which you can tell your story and be listened to with interest and compassion. We work together to reflect, ask questions, get curious and ‘wonder aloud’ about what you are experiencing internally, with others and the world around you. I give particular attention to how the contexts you were born into, grown up in and have inhabited have influenced and shaped you – the ecological, familial, cultural, economic, social, political, religious, ancestral and transgenerational. I offer embodied and creative ways of working with body-mind, soul and spirit, within indoor and/or outdoor natural spaces, to find and create new possibilities and create ground for new and more vibrant stories

I have a strong belief in people’s capacity to make changes and to lead happier, healthier lives despite having suffered adversity or trauma.
In addition to working at LPCC, I also work for the NHS as Clinical Lead in a Trauma Informed Service within the Criminal Justice System. I have worked in this field for over 20 years with a particular focus on the link between adverse childhood experiences and difficulties in later life.

I work using an integrative approach of Transactional Analysis and Person Centred counselling both of which provide a rich framework to support therapy.
At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that on some level, consciously or not, every human is in contact with their life force, constantly encouraging them to develop and grow closer to a sense of wholeness.
I am deeply interested in the multifaceted aspect of human personalities, as well as in the existential questions that impact our lives and mental health: our role and place in the world, our connection with our planet, our contexts, our societies, our sense of choice, responsibility, time, freedom, loss, the quest for meaning, beliefs and cultures as a few examples. This has led me to specialise in working in outdoor spaces.
Having lived and worked in various countries, I understand the complexities of change when we are faced with life transitions.
-
My experience of different cultures, and interest in the multifaceted aspect of human personalities means I can help you with many of the challenges you may be facing, including:-
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship issues
Trauma
Loss

I offer a therapeutic space where each individual’s uniqueness is welcome, honoured and celebrated.
In my work, I support clients develop their awareness of how they relate to themselves, to the world and to others, and unlock the knowledge they intuitively hold internally about their difficulties.
Together we explore and understand the emotions, the patterns shaped by their past experiences and how these impact their lives now, and the possibilities for change to a more satisfying life.
Part of my practice takes place outdoor, where we connect and include the natural space and vitality into the therapeutic work.

I provide a confidential and safe environment of warmth, empathy, understanding and some humour. I will be sensitive to your needs and processes, all while we work together towards the healing, change and growth you want to see in your life. I will work with you through what you’re facing whether that be trauma, pain, loss, hindrances or obstacles while also examining your view of yourself, others and the world. This may include beliefs like “I’m not good enough”, “I can’t trust anyone”, the world/ life is not fair.’ Our beliefs at some point in our lives have helped to keep us safe and stopped us from giving up, but all too often as we grow up into adulthood these beliefs start to put a strain on our lives and our relationships.

My name is George. I am a trauma-informed specialist who works with people to heal from difficult or traumatic life events and adverse childhood experiences. I also work with all sorts of people who are simply not feeling ok; whether that is experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, separation, bereavement or anything else that doesn’t feel right. I work with all adults, and I work hard to ensure my practice is inclusive, regardless of age, ability, neurodiversity, gender identity, sexuality, race, religion or class.
When not at the LPCC, I work for two different charities supporting survivors of sexual abuse and childhood trauma.
-
I can support you to make changes to issues relating to depression, anxiety, stress, anger, bereavement, confidence, relationships, low mood, self-esteem or many other things that might not be sitting right with you.
I am also specifically trained to work with issues relating to PTSD and other difficult or traumatic life events; for example, physical, emotional or sexual abuse, domestic violence, feelings of suicide or self-harm, trauma related to serving in the armed forces, personality disorders (such as dissociative identity or emotionally unstable personality disorder) and any other symptoms related to trauma.
-
I am an integrative therapist and counsellor. This means that I am trained in a range of different therapies, including those specifically designed to help heal trauma. One advantage of this approach is that we can work together to find the best approach to achieve your goals. For example, I am trained in trauma informed psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person centred therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness. This can be helpful because everyone is different so, I will work hard to offer you a bespoke service that has your needs at the centre.
-
I have five years of university training in psychology and psychotherapy. I hold a BSc degree in psychology from the University of Sheffield and a masters (MA) in integrative counselling (passed with distinction) from Bangor University, North Wales. I also worked on a partnership program between the UNHCR and the Home Office, supporting survivors of trauma and persecution.
I work with neurodiverse clients, as well as with people who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I am here to explore with you, to create a safe space, and to welcome all of you. No two people are the same, therefore no two sessions are the same. This space, created by both of us can be used to grow and to understand yourself. I draw from my Transactional Analysis base to help the process and also bits that I have found useful over the years such as Person Centre, working with parts, play and art therapy with and overall attention to the body and the surroundings regardless if the session is indoors or outdoors.

I have worked within different areas of the healthcare sector my entire career. This began within medicine. Initially as a hospital doctor and then as a GP in several different areas of Merseyside. My 10 years of experience as an NHS doctor revealed to me the significant impact of psychological health on physical illnesses and vice versa. This experience inspired my career shift into training and working exclusively as a therapist.
I have been working as a therapeutic counsellor as part of a team of psychotherapists in Liverpool since 2017. With my background in medicine, I am deeply interested in the relationship between the body and mind when approaching and working with mental health difficulties.
-
Among other things I can help you with:-
Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Grief
Trauma
Relationship difficulties
-
My approach is drawn from my Transactional Analysis training and includes both reflective and also more directive ways of working. This will be paced carefully to the individual person. We will work together to encourage within you a greater sense of resilience and capability.

I am married with two school aged children. Parenting keeps me on my toes! I’m passionate about it and always learning. My interest in parenting also overlaps and inspires my therapy practice. Childhood experiences are unique and can be wonderfully precious as well as painful and traumatic. It is a privilege as a therapist to be trusted with these experiences.
I enjoy being outside in nature. I love walking in nature and wild swimming. Being in nature has many therapeutic benefits which is one of the reasons I love it!
I also have my own, well-travelled, therapy journey. I know how it feels to start this process, and it has been transformational for me.

If you decide to work with me, you will experience an empathic, gentle and warm approach that is open, curious and non-judgemental. I provide a safe space for you to be listened to and understood and for us to explore together whatever you want to bring.
I view the therapy process as helping you develop a deeper understanding of who you are, and how you relate to others in the light of your experiences.
I also work with you to learn and discover new perspectives and tools, enabling you to grow and move forward. I really enjoy working creatively with tools like Sand Tray, picture cards, and visualisations. They can offer gentle yet powerful ways to explore and process trauma at a deeper level.

I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a Diploma in Transactional Analysis. I am a registered member of BACP (MBACP) and a member of UKATA and UKCP. I have been practicing as a therapist since 2018 and have over 18 years of experience working in various roles - supporting adults, students, young people and families, including 5 years as a social worker in a community mental health team. This role gave me valuable insight and experience, but I wanted to be able to work in a more psychological, relational and creative way than a statutory mental health setting allowed, which is what led me to retrain in psychotherapy.

I create a safe and inclusive space that is accepting and empowering for all people. I work with individuals and couples to help them to understand more about themselves and what they are experiencing. Then explore how their past has impacted their present. I have lived with Parkinson’s Disease for almost 30 years. Having Parkinson’s does not mean I have all the answers, but it does mean I have had to ask myself a lot of the questions. The personal therapy I have undertaken along the way has been invaluable in helping me to navigate what has often been an emotionally challenging journey. That’s why I decided to become a therapist and it’s why I am so passionate about supporting people who find themselves in any state of emotional distress.
I believe people have the right to be happy. Working together, with empathy, compassion and without judgement, we can explore your concerns and find a healthier way forward that works for you.
-

I am a very experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor having worked for over 26 years initially within the NHS and mainly in private practice with individuals, couples, families and groups.
I am originally from Liverpool although I have travelled extensively throughout the world I seem to end up back in the place of my birth! This all gives me a broad life and professional depth which I see as important in my work role.
I consider myself warm and genuine which enables me to put the people I work with at ease initially, I also have a sense of humour! (yes we sometimes we do laugh in the therapy room!). I have two wonderful grown up sons whom I adore, being a father is never an easy task but such an important one.
-
I can help with a multitude of life problems and challenges too many to mention here but including relationships, anxiety and depression etc
-
I work very much in the therapeutic relationship, research shows that the therapeutic relationship is key to positive therapy outcomes. This means it is an active two way process as we work together to take responsibility to understand old patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that maybe causing the problems people experience.
I am committed to the people I work with and believe strongly in the ideology and application of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
-
I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor with 3 years training in the Person-centred approach and 7 years training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy prior to gaining BACP accreditation and have a working interest and knowledge of IFS internal family systems.

15 years ago, I attended a short weekend workshop introducing the main ideas of psychotherapy. I hoped to use it in my work as a teacher and foster carer, instead I was so inspired by the experience that I knew instantly this path was for me. That same year I applied for a place on an advanced psychotherapy training course and have never looked back. Becoming a therapist has allowed me to turn my deep curiosity about the human experience and a passion for helping, supporting and championing people into an enlivening and fulfilling new career.
I don’t come armed with a magic wand, instead I believe in the healing power of genuine connection, compassionate listening and small, courageous steps towards change. It is an exciting privilege to come alongside you as a fellow traveller, navigating all the twists, turns and challenges together.
When not in the therapy room you can find me drinking lovely coffee in a cosy café with a good book or trying (and usually failing) to keep up with a very energetic three-year-old.
-
I can help with a wide range of difficulties including:
Childhood trauma & attachment
Anxiety & depression
Fostering & adoption
Infertility & pregnancy loss
Relationship issues

First and foremost, I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where your thoughts and feelings are all welcome, valued and explored freely. I hope to meet you with empathy, compassion and genuine curiosity, as well as a generous pinch of humour - therapy isn’t always about serious faces and silent nods. I work collaboratively, letting you set the pace and lead the way, but also offering methods and techniques to help you on that journey.
I believe that sharing, exploring, gaining insight and working through difficult life experiences or self-limiting beliefs is incredibly powerful. I also believe that healing is not just a process of the mind, it is also of the body. My approach often blends more traditional talk therapy with somatic practices, recognising that our bodies hold the stories that we can’t always put into words.

I am a skilled, experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. Since joining LPCC in 2019, I have approached my work with lots of compassion and an open mind. Prior to qualifying as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I undertook volunteer work for over 10 years providing listening services to people in distress through several organisations including Samaritans, Childline, and Queer Notions, and my work as a therapist is informed by these experiences, especially when working with risk, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.
I enjoy working with people from many backgrounds, but I make special mention that as a gay man with significant experience of autism and ADHD in my close family, I do welcome work with LGBTQIA+ people and with neurodivergent people. I also do a lot of work with men and men’s mental health, and I have been published on the subject of men’s mental health and suicidality.
-
Some of the issues I support people with include:
Addictive behaviour
Anger
Anxiety
Autism and ADHD
Bereavement
Depression
Difficulty experiencing and expressing feelings
Family issues
LGBTQIA+ issues
Low mood
Men’s mental health
Overwhelm
Relationship problems
Self-esteem
Self-harm
Stress
Suicidal ideation

I keep kindness and compassion at the heart of my work, offering the opportunity to be listened to without being judged. I provide a space in which even the most difficult thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences can be shared, explored, and reflected upon with empathy and respect.
As your therapist, I will be interested in how you ended up where you are and who you are, in the experiences that shaped you, and how you have learned to navigate through life. But, more importantly, I am interested in the here and now, in what affects you in the here and now, and in how you can feel better going forward.
I am very curious about the stories that we tell ourselves about ourselves and about the world, and how those stories help or hinder us as we go through life. You may feel stuck or alone, struggling to make sense of your own thoughts or feelings, to recover from past experiences, or how to feel okay present. I will work with you to better understand your story and to strengthen your knowledge and understanding of yourself so that you can make real changes in your life, in your relationships with others, and in your relationship with yourself.
-
I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Registered Member of BACP (MBACP) with a Post Graduate Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Transactional Analysis, as well as a qualification in Person Centred Counselling Skills.
