OUR STORY

Our story

Liverpool Psychotherapy and Counselling Centre (but we all call it LPCC) is a hub of high-quality yet accessible therapy, right in the heart of Liverpool. While most counselling centres simply rent out rooms to therapists, we wanted to offer something unique to counselling services in Liverpool. That’s why we’re dedicated to providing accessible therapy services, from professional and trusted providers, in a space that you feel truly comfortable in.

Professional Therapy Room

All of our therapists are self-employed, and hand-picked to operate under the LPCC name and in our centre. Everyone that works for LPCC, from our therapists to our referrals team, is thoroughly vetted and checked to make sure they provide the best possible support to patients.

A hand-selected team of high-quality therapists

We’re here to make the first step easier

Accessing therapy for the first time can be daunting, but you’re not alone in figuring it out. The environment we’ve created at LPCC is warm, welcoming, and immediately puts our clients at ease. This is a face-to-face service in a space that you can see, feel, and experience for yourself, to help you work through the fears or doubts you have around starting therapy.

Making high-quality care easy to access

We make our services as accessible as possible, and do everything we can to ensure our clients feel supported and catered for at every step of their therapy journey. You’ll be able to find the right help that works for you, with a range of plans that are flexible on time, and cost, without compromising on the quality of the support.

Our history

LPCC was founded all the way back in 1977 by Dr Ailis Murphy (CPsychol) and Peter Banckyz. For 22 years, Ailis and Peter built LPCC’s reputation as a centre for receiving high-quality care and therapy support.

In 2018 our founders moved on, appointing Carol Wain and Hannah Harris as the new directors of the centre. From that point, the focus has been on making our high-quality services even more accessible, such as moving the physical location of the centre, and expanding our team to offer more choices of therapy.

In 2022, Hannah moved on from LPCC, and Carol Wain is still here as Centre Director, with her husband Andy acting as Co-Director of the Centre.
